Well, I must tell you all, I love this Twister tool by CS designs. I simply can't get over how neat it is. I have been buying charm packs and layer cakes like crazy because I can't stop making these little quilts. I purchased both sizes of the ruler & both books that are out there. “ Funny thing though, I bought the second book “Lets Twist Again”, first. However I did order the first book & can't wait to see shat great patterns & ideas or it that one.

Now after making this cutey, I called my friend Penny who comes to sew with me, and told her about this amazing tool. Well , I am such a good friend, I got her addicted as well. So together we made another top. Here is Penny's pretty rich toned one. She got her charms awhile ago from the quilt show we went to together & at the time didn't know what to do with them. L

eave it to me, I helped her out. Didn't it turn out nice? She is out buying more charms too to make more.

Here is my second one using soft pastel colors I had.

Of course since Valentine's day is coming, I just had to make this heart pattern which is in the book.

I can't stop looking at this PINK pretty, it is soooooooo me. It is going to go in my sewing room.

That is what I have been up to these last few weeks. I am waiting for my charms to come from Fatquarter Shop & Green Fairy Quilts, so I can make more. Having a great time. What have you been up to?

Well as Stella got her groove back in the movie, I think I now have my groove back. Life got a little stressful there & I just couldn't blog, but now that life is more normal, & my darling is doing great, I shall try to be more faithful in writing.

May I show you what I have been working on for Christmas presents? Well first we have a kitty pillow for Penny. The photo just doesn't show the bright green in the kitties eyes, they are so life like. Please excuse the shine of the plastic wrap, I had them wrapped before I remembered to take a photo. However, I think you can see the beauty of the faces.

Then we have a beautiful tea pot for my dear friend Deni. So many special times we have shared at tea places.

Then I made a urn with beautiful flowers & tiny Dresden plates for my friend Deb.

Then there are bunny faces for my friend Phyllis, she was speechless when she opened her package. I couldn't resist, & made one for the queen of bunnies, our Michelle May. Hope she liked it.

Like all of you I have been so busy at my sewing machine sewing, sewing, sewing. Today is Christmas eve & the door is closed, all the gifts are where they are suppose to be. Life is wonderful.

Update on Gregg

Hello my dear blogger friends,
Just wanted to give you an update on Gregg.
Went to the Doctor on Wed and they took out the catheter and staples. Then the Dr came in
with the pathological findings and they found cancer in both lobes of his prostrate and a very aggressive one. 4 on a scale of 5, as we knew.
Good news is he got all of it. Bad news is since the cancer was so
aggressive, He will have to be checked often to make sure it hasn't got out,starting in three weeks. So pleased the cancer is gone, but concerned
it could still lurking.
However Mr. G is getting stronger every day.
Thank you for your prayers.

While Gregg rests, I hang out in my sewing room. I made the silhouette of the lady sewing for my wall. Notice her PINK shoes? Perfect for me.

Also have been working on some birthday gifts. I just love picking out all the different threads, such pretty colors. Watching the machine do the stitching is so much fun, it just amazes me how it knows what to do & where to go.

Calling all Angels

Where has the time gone? I just haven't felt like posting because I have had so much on my mind. I have been taking my darling Gregg to Doctor appts. After all the testing we were told he has prostrate cancer!
Please pray for us as we take this journey for his recovery. We caught it early & he will be fine after surgery, but this is still so frightening.

Summer fun

Hello my bloggy friends, I'm sure someone somewhere has been asking, "Why don't she write?"
This summer has been quite busy with adventures & trips. In fact we just got back from a wonderful time in Las Vegas. Now we aren't gamblers, we enjoy going to shows & having wonderful meals. Throw in some shopping, & it's simply great.

Now I would like for you to meet Ruby. She is the new member of my family & I have fallen in love with her. Isn't she pretty? I have been embroidering like crazy. I was scared of the computer designing part, but the teacher where I got the machine was so good. Also the program is so user friendly it was easy to learn. However I still have LOTS to learn & practice.

I signed up for a summer mug rug swap at the Quilt & Needle forum & made this for Gerda. I can't get over how much detail is in the embroidery pattern. The clouds alone have three colors. Then the shell almost looks 3d. This one was to much fun to do I made a 2nd one for another friend of mine who love the beach.
I made this cute chicken thing for my kitchen. Don't you love the embroidered checker board border? These patterns came from Embroidery Library, where I can spend hrs. looking around. I am so hooked on this.

Now this one is going on the wall in my sewing room. Pink & black are the colors in my sewing room so this will go perfectly. I think she is such a pretty lady, so prim & proper.

Pink Peppermint quilt

Have you gotten your copy of the Better Homes & Gardens “Quilt Sampler” magazine? Well run, don't walk to your nearest Quilt shope & pick up a copy. There are some wonderful patterns in the shop hop issue, I want to make them all. Makes me want to take a road trip to visit all the darling shops that are featured.

I joined a swap on the Scrappy & Happy forum called Peppermint sticks. We each picked the color we wanted our sticks to be, then received 6 pieces of fabric measuring 3x6 from each person that signed up. Well anyone who knows me, knows I picked PINK! I received so many pretty pinks I just loved looking at them.

Back to the Quilt sampler Magazine, when I looked through the pages I came across this wonderful pattern by Karen L. Gray, called "Pave the Way",

I knew my pretty pink peppermint sticks would be perfect for this pattern.

What do you think? I just love it, It reminds me of summer, Picnics, & sherbet.

It goes so well with my new pink phone. A girl needs to be color coordinated.

Then of course my beautiful black cat Warwick looks great on pink.

The big black Easter bunny has shown up to wish you a very Happy Easter.
Oh wait, the ears are wrong, hum, it's the big black Easter Kitty isn't it? Ha ha couldn't fool you guys.

It is Spring time and flowers should be blooming & butterflies should be out. The only place I see butterflies is on my sewing table.

We have cloudy days with rain. How I long to get out my sandals & sun dresses.
So in the meantime we are heading to Hawaii where I can be warm.

What comes first?

Good morning all, hope you are having a great weekend.
I'm pleased to say, California has her sun back. Yeah, didn't think I would see the sun due to all the rain & snow storms we have been having.
The bones & spirit do so well when there is sunshine.

I finished this table runner that a gentleman ordered for his wife. I have never made such a long one before, but that is what he wanted, guess his wife has a large farm table. I thought the chicken panel fabric was so pretty, all the colors were so rich.
The sqs in the four patch & the binding is a yummy fabric of bright colored feathers. Then the blue & orange fabrics have chicken wire. You can't see it in the photo though, it was hard to capture.

Good morning my friends, one more block for the block of the month I'm working on. I just love this fabric with the birds & roses. It is so vintage looking.
Now below are the alternate blocks for the on point setting. If you see the blue fabric at the top of the photo, that is the fabric sent to me for the BOM, however I decided to make my nine patch blocks PINK. I know you are not really surprised, because this is a for me quilt & pink is my signature color.

Now here is a small viewing of how the layout will look, of course remember my patches will be pink. I think it is going to be so beautiful. The hardest part is having to wait for the blocks to come. Still have a ways to go because I am only on block 5, but I will keep you posted on how it's going.

I'm here

I'm here but have been reading what all my fellow bloggers have been doing. I have had some obligations to folks who have ordered items from me so haven't had a chance to bog myself. Also, our storms here have been quite an issue, when snow falls where Mr. G & I live we loose power. So that means, no heat. now Internet, now hot water. My goodness it is a bother.

So, I do believe the snow storms are over just rain in the forecast. If all goes well blue sky's are in our future.
Here is a photo of our back deck during the last snow storm when I couldn't get out of our yard to go to a quilt show. Now that is a disaster.

So today we only had rain, so I spent the day working on blocks from the "Block of the Month" I signed up with at my favorite quilt shopQuilters Paradise
I used to go to their shop when I went to visit my Mother, fond memories. Hope I can get back there sometime, but now that Mom has passed away, don't know when I would head that way. Thank goodness for Internet though.

Anywhooooo-- the blocks are so fun to make & the fabrics are simply wonderful, my simple photos just don't do the fabrics justice. The BOM is called Pieces of the Past. I saw it when I visited the shop & fell in love with it. Gregg told me I should make it for out bed, well, if he liked it, then it was a done deal.
So here are a few of the blocks to show you, don't you just love the fabric? I can hardly contain myself. to wait each month for the next one to arrive.

Where are you Spring?

I have been waiting for Spring, but look what blew in last week. I think it does look beautiful, but the bad thing is we tend to loose power. Now the first day it isn't too bad sitting around reading a book by the fire, cooking on the camp stove, just being together. However by the third day things get old because everything takes longer. Heating the water for coffee, heating the water to bathe or wash dishes. My arm got tired holding the flashlight to read my book.

So I say again, where is spring?

On to other things, let me show you what came in my mail box. It is my quilt from when I joined a Round Robin from The Quilt & Needle

I chose to do a New York Beauty for the center using some reproduction fabrics I had been saving. I think the ladies did such a beautiful job on each of the borders. I'm thinking I might add another border to make it a little bigger. Get your thinking cap on Mary on how to quilt this. You always do such beautiful quilting.

It's Valentines Day

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for all your kind words during this difficult time. Your love & prayers mean so much & truly helps.

On a more happy note, I wanted to share with you the quilt I made for Gregg's niece. Debbieann from the Quilt & Needle forum shared this pattern with us. I just loved the pattern. It was so much fun to collect all the different black & white fabrics. I'm planning on making another one for myself only the stars will have to be pink.

I tried to get a good photo of Mary's wonderful quilting. Mary from The Quilted Hollow, quilted spirals which are just perfect for this quilt. You can see them in the red star. Thank you Mary for always doing such a beautiful job for me.

My darling Mother

Hello my friends,
I had some quilty things to share with you, but that will have to wait for another day.

I just wanted to let you know my darling Mother passed away last night around 4:00 am. I'm so glad Gregg & I got to spend some time with her before she went home.
Most of the time we were with her she was asleep due to the medication, but one lovely moment on Sun morning was when Gregg & I were alone with her just talking, when she opened her eyes & looked right at me & tried to talk. I think she was telling me goodby, & I so needed that special moment. My Mom is quite a fighter & I was hoping she would once again sit up & wonder what all the fuss was about.
I will truly miss her, she was a great lady.

It's a new year

Happy New Year all. It is always exciting to start a new year, a new month, even a new day.

I would like to share with you a very special gift I received from my Internet friend Deb. She knows I love pink & Civil War fabrics, so she made me this beautiful pillow. Look at the tiny half sq. triangles! I have it sitting on a living room chair so I can look at it every day. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you Deb.

well in my pink sewing room

Gregg & I took a ride up to Reno on New Year's eve to see what the huge storms left. We heard there was lots of snow and boy was there. It looked like a picture post card, absolutely beautiful. As we drove through Truckee, the car thermometer read 4degrees. FOUR! I didn't get out of the truck there. Reno was a little warmer, it was 12. ha ha. We were toasty in the stores though. Next post I will show you goodies I found at The Windy Moon quilt shop that Gregg takes me to when we go to Reno.
It was such a fun day, just wish we would have remembered the camera. I know, silly of me, guess I was just so excited to get on the road.

Decorating time

Like Many of you I have been slowly getting my little house decorated for Christmas. I have to say, I just love Christmas. Pulling out all the special ornaments we have collected though the years, and reminiscing of when and where we bought it.

I do have one wall hanging I made a couple years ago. When I saw this pattern by Betty alderman I knew I had to make one for myself. I wanted mine to be softer reds, more towards the rose color which goes so well in my home. Isn't he wonderful?

In between making Christmas presents, I have been working an an Angel wall hanging. She is going to be so pretty when I or if I get it finished. You will have to wait for a photo though.

One finished

Have I been busy? Hum, let me think..... Yes! I like other quilters & crafters have been busy making Christmas gifts. The bad thing is. time just seems to run too fast. I can't believe Thanksgiving is this Thursday. Thank goodness we are only having 4 at our table because I am not ready.

On the forum Quilt & Needle, I signed up for a Secret Santa gift exchange & made this cute apron & pot holders to match. I loved the pattern & later might make one for myself. Of course mine will be pink. he he.

Also, I have been working on the quilt below as a Christmas gift for Gregg's niece. The pattern was designed my a nice lady DebbieAnn on the forum Quilt & Needle. I just love the pattern. There is ALOT of cutting, but once that was done it goes together quite nicely.
Now imagine those stars in PINK, yes, that is a plan for the future.

This little star is only 3 inches. Now those are tiny pieces!

I don't know if it will be quilted by Christmas, but we will see if Mr. Time slows a little for me.

Pink, pink, I love pink

I wanted to share with you the little project I did last weekend.

I have had this little chest on my sewing table for years. It is perfect for

holding sewing needles, buttons, & fancy trinkets for my different sewing projects. However, as perfect as it is, I have not liked the color it is. It just didn't go with the theme of my sewing room. So one day I thought to myself, “I wonder if I could paint it?”

So I took a trip to Joanne's in search of some spray paint. Well I found the isle of spray paint, & look what I saw on the shelf …....

This is the most glorious color of pink!!!!!! It's called ballet slipper pink, how perfect is that. I would buy a case of it if I could.

Well I headed home so happy with my find. Then started to work of

preparing my little chest for it's new color.

Now it looks like this....

Isn't it pretty? Now I need to find something else to paint with the wonderful color.

In the mean time, I joined a pincushion swap on Block Central's forum & found this cute pattern by Anne Sutton at Bunny Hill. I made one for my partner, & love the cute little owl so much, I had to make one for myself. I made the little owl with minki & she is so soft. Of course the pillow she is sitting on had to be PINK.

What Bed & Breakfast is this?

Hello my friends,

Ha, ha, this is not really a Bed and Breakfast bedroom even though it feels like being in one. Mr P. and I went out & purchased a new bed because we felt it was time for a larger mattress. It's funny how through the years ours seems to have gotten smaller & smaller. Could it be because or kitties feel the need to sleep with us & stretch themselves out to their full existent? Could it be I have grown taller and wider? That is very unlikely, considering at my last measurement, I am still only 5 feet. What ever the reason, we have upgraded to a king size bed. Which means we had to get a new head board to fit our new mattress. Oh darn, shopping for furniture, ha ha. Now what women doesn't' love to shop?

I knew I wanted a taller headboard, & fell in love with this one the moment I saw it. I was afraid it would look too small for the bedroom, but I think it looks fine. Interesting thing, it goes so well with our antique dresser that we bought & refinished during our first year of marriage.

While visiting my bloggy friends sights, I see they have been so busy getting projects finished for Fall. Well this has inspired me to pull out a Fall project I started last year but had to put it away because other projects needed to get done first.

Now I am not a Sun Bonnet kind of girl, but when I saw a book by Betty Alderman with these vintage looking Sue's, I knew I had to make it for my wall for the Fall season. The little black kitties make me smile because they remind me of my little Warwick. Now just need to get it quilted & hanging up.

Seeing spots

My friend Penny told me the other day I haven't posted for awhile. Yes I know this & have to say it is because this has been the busiest summer ever. It seems we have had places to go & people to see. Things like concerts, family reunions, wedding to attend, quilt retreats. Yes it has been a busy time, but so much fun.

Now I have had a few weeks in between trips, to be in my sewing room. Which is always a good thing because Bernie, my sewing machine, does miss me when I'm gone. Corny I know, but yes my sewing machines have names.

I finished this darling dog for my friend Michells, birthday. You guess it, she owns dalmatians.
I just love Maggie Walkers patterns, they are so life like. I made her chickens, not sure if I've shown a photo yet, it needs quilting. later for that.
Anywhoo, I enjoyed making this & do hope she likes it.

Now to share exciting new, This is my "Over the River" quilt finished! I posted photos a while back after I competed piecing it, but I must show you the wonderful quilting my new friend Mary Flynn from Quilt Hollow did. (I wish I know how to make her name linkable for you, but, sorry to say, I do not. I will learn one of these days.)

I must say getting a good photo to show her wonderful work is difficult for an amateur like me.
I love this design she did on the flying geese border.Then see the snowflakes? Isn't that wonderful?
Look how the snow scene just comes to life. I just love this quilt, thank you again Mary for quilting this for me. Also a big thank you to Meg from Crabbapple Hill who designed this pattern.

Look what I won from Dawn over at Spring Water Designs. I won her jelly roll birthday give away! Thank you Dawn for just a wonderful item to win, I just love jelly rolls. I pulled my Jelly roll book out to get inspired for this red & blue jelly roll.

In the last few days I have been piecing all the blocks I received from fellow bloggers who joined in Mellisa's Jo Morton fabric Signature swap. I went out I bought the wonderful book, Vintage Journey to make this quilt. Didn't it turn out great? I just love reading the names & where they come from. I will cherish this little quilt.

Then let me show you this wonderful fall kit that my friend Karen from "Living Life at Leehaven" sent to me. Don't you just love the pumpkins? I want to make this up for my wall for Thanksgiving. It was the sweetest gift & means so much to me. It came from her beloved friend Daphine who passed away, & Karen thought of me when she saw it. Thank you again my friend for thinking of me. I will post pictures when I get her done.
It is going to be a hot one today, but I will be happy in my sewing room with the air conditioner, a cool glass of iced tea, & the humming of my sewing machine. What a lovely way to spend a Friday.

Hey all, yes I am still around. Haven't stopped by lately because,
well, I broke my other lap top and had to wait to get a new one . Yes, you read that right, I broke my computer. Very silly really, the other night the cats were fighting, & I jumped up to stop it & I guess I put the computer down too hard on the footstool . The screen flipped back...way too far & broke. It was just hanging there by some wires like a broken leg. Turns out to repair it would cost about the same as a new lap top, so here I am with a new one. Gregg now calls me amazon women. Guess I am stronger than I thought. Always thought I was a delicate flower. haha

So here I am on my new laptop & loving it. Much faster and all.
I joined a pincushion swap at Block Central forum. My partner likes chickens, & I found this cute pattern. It has beads for the comb & feet. Isn't it cute? It has a little caddy on it's back to hold thread & scissors . It is by Art Fabric Studio.
I made up one for my sewing room because the go together quite fast. You will never guess what color I made for myself. Deb & Penny know, yes it is Pink of course. I just need to sew the beads on that one.

Then I made this one too. Very Victorian and feminine.

It's finished

I am pleased to say I have finished my "Over The River" from Crabapple Hill. The moment I saw this pattern I knew I had to make it. I just love the trees & houses in the snow. It was so fun to pull fabrics from my stash for this quilt.
I just need to piece the backing so I can get it mailed off to Mary at Quilt Hollow who is going to quilt it for me.

I have started another one for my brother & his wife, only this next one I am making in reds. I think it will be pretty too. Just hope they like it.

Now my friends who see this are probably saying, " what no pink"? Well, that is for my next stitchery pattern, so stay tuned.

I have been busy

We took a trip to beautiful Monteray because I signed up for a quilting class. I have always wanted to learn to make the One block Wonder quilt. I love how you take one beautiful fabric, cut in up in a special way then sew back together the wedges & you have created a kaleidoscope effect. The day before my class we had plenty of time for sight seeing. We were blessed with beautiful weather.

This is the fabric I started with. I just loved all the different shells along with all the colors.

Here are the blocks together on my design wall. The difficult part is arranging them in a pleasing transition. The goal is to have the blocks blend into each other. I still have some work to do. It amazes me how different the blocks look from the original fabric.
I have to say a big thank you to my darling Gregg for taking me to this quilting class. He is so supportive of my passion, & is willing to take me where I need to go. He had a good time hiking & going through museums.

I thought I would share with you my collection of table top dress forms. I started collecting them purely by accident.

These cute little ones, were given to me as a gift from my friend Dianne. The shorter one is really a little box you can store tinny treasures.

The pretty white wire one below, my friend Penny gave me for Christmas. I put some pretty pink fabric inside to make it look like she is waring a dress.

I found the pretty white one, which you see below, while at my favorite quilt shop. She just called out to me, wanting to go home with me. I put some antique lace & trims on her, but I think I need to send her to Char, at Somewhere in Thyme, to fancy her up, because Char makes such pretty things.

So since I have started collecting dress forms, it wasn't any wonder when I saw the pattern from Fig Tree & co. of Madeline, that I had to make it for my sewing room. I made her with Rouenneries fabric by French General because the day I first saw this fabric line, I knew I had to have it. I am so happy how she turned out.

I just need to quilt it when I get some free time.

Round Robin

Well I joined another Round Robin & having such a good time coming up with borders for the medallions.
I just finished the second border for Deb's medallion. I think it looks like a Navajo blanket & love how it turned out. This will be for her Husband Al, hope he likes it.

Friday was such a funny day, I think I just wasn't on my game. It started out like any other Friday. Penny was coming over for sew day, something I always look forward to.

Now on sew days, I like to make something easy for dinner because I'm quite tired after a fun filled day of sewing & laughter.
So I put a left over chicken carcase in a large pot to make chicken soup for dinner. It smelled so good all day I couldn't wait until it was dinner time.
Well, about 3:oo o'clock I went in the kitchen to strain the bones so I could add my freshly cut vegetables, & pieces of fresh chicken to the broth.
Got my hot pads out & poured the bones into the colander, lifted the colander out of the way & let out a cry of "OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!!!!"
I forgot to put a pot under the colander & all my beautiful chicken broth that had been cooking all day, was now down the drain.

Now picture Homer Simpson slapping his forehead & saying d'oh! That was me.
Penny came out to find out what was wrong & when I told her she laughed until she cried. Hum, she was probably glad it was me.

Back from my retreat

I'm back from my three day free motion quilting retreat. My sewing buddy Penny was planning on going with me but had to cancel due to unexpected circumstances. I was very sad, however Gregg stepped up & went with me. The class was in Trinidad CA ,8 hrs. away so I am so glad he was willing to do the driving. The road to get there is very curvy so he was excited to take the Porsche. I was quite amazed all of my sewing stuff fit.

My teacher was Jill Schumacker, & she was wonderful. I learned so much & had such a wonderful time.
Now truth be told, the first day I was a little nervous. I walked into a room with 30 something quilters without a buddy, all by myself & my heart went into my throat. However, quilters are wonderful people. They are so friendly, and welcoming. Right away I felt right at ease.

So, here is the whole cloth I quilted at the retreat. I must say I am rather proud of myself. I wanted to learn small detail quilting & accomplished that. Now I need to do more practicing of course. Every once in awhile you can see my like waved where I took a breath.
The fabric we purchased from Jill at the class is so yummy. It is called radiance by Robert Kauffman. It is like silk.

Wish my photos were better, but you get the idea. Think I will make this into a pillow.
Then on the way home we stayed at this Bed & Breakfast in Napa. It was so beautiful I really hated to leave.
This is the main house at Beringer winery. Isn't it beautiful?
So I had a wonderful time & am ready to go again next year.

Hi everyone,
I'm sorry to say I haven't written much lately, because I haven't had much to share that might be interesting to you. My days have been busy sewing & running daily errands, but I don't think that is anything to write about. I will have pictures to share later of my "Over the River" quilt, because I'm pleased to say I finished my last embroidered panel, so now I just need to sew everything together.

Our days have been cold & rainy so Gregg my sweetie has been building fires to keep us toasty warm. As you can see in the background, we are watching Who's Line is it Anyway. Love that show.
Isn't that a beautiful fire?

Even Windsor feels warm & safe.

It's snowing again and I am just loving it. Everything is so beautiful & peaceful. However the down side to all this snow, is the power keeps going out. Now I know it can be cozy to sit by the fire, cook dinner on the camp stove, have great conversations, & even play some board games by candle light. However by the second day it gets old, because I would love to take a hot shower, & do some sewing at my sewing machine.

So let me wish all a happy weekend, & post this before I loose power again.

Today is January 15th & 22 years ago Gregg and I were married. It has been a wonderful journey, and each day is better than the last.
Happy anniversary my darling. Your are the man of my dreams, & the best thing I have done is to marry you.

Doesn't he look handsome? My dress is blue velvet that was made for me by my sister-in-law Lynn. We were married on a cold afternoon & snow was expected, so the velvet kept me warm. I didn't want to ware a coat & cover up my pretty dress, so, is I had pink long johns on under my dress for more warmth. Of course I didn't really feel the cold because I was so excited.

Here we are today. a little grayer, but still so in love.

Thought I would share with you my first finished stitchery project. I made this pillow for my Friend's birthday. I don't think she reads my blog, so it should be safe to share. I found the light house pattern on line. It has several different lighthouse. One day I would like to make a quilt of stitched lighthouses. The verse is from Charles Lindberg's tombstone. I took a photo when Gregg & I were in Maui because I thought the verse was so lovely. Then enlarged it so I could stitch it. I think it turned out well.

Now that I finished this birthday present, I will continue to finish the "Over the River" stitchery that I showed you a few posts back. I'm on the last panel, which I don't think will take too long. All the trees take the longest time.

I'm off to pack up my sewing room today. Why would I do that you ask. Well, my Christmas present was a new Koala sewing station!!!! I am just so excited. It is being delivered Monday so I must pack up all of my things. Yes, I will post pictures of my beautiful table once I get everything organized.

New Round Robin

Well I've decided to join in a round robin again at the Quilt & Needle forum that I am a member of.
I joined one last year & had such a good time adding borders on every one's medallion, in my group. It makes one stretch outside of your comfort zone.
However, sad thing , my top never made it back home to me. Yes I was disappointed, but thought I would give round robins another try again. This time my medallion is a New York beauty using my favorite fabrics which are Civil War. Anyone who knows me, knows I had to have pink somewhere. Those Civil War pinks are so yummy.
I will let you know how the progress is going on this new top.

I wanted to share with you the wonderful gift my friend Deb, whom I met on Block Central's forum, made for me. She knows I love pink and made me this darling wall hanging. The pink house is so me. She did embroidery on the house & the little flower box. Then we have kitties in the corner which depicts our little home. I just love it. Thank you my friend from the bottom of my heart.

I can't believe Christmas is only 11 days away! I'm am so far behind this year. I have always been ready with my gifts and Christmas cards each year, but alas I'm sorry to say I'm running out of time. If you my friends & family do not receive a Christmas card this year, please forgive me, but know you are always in my thoughts.

Decorating

Thought I would share with you our Christmas tree. I enjoy decorating the tree while Gregg puts up the outside lights. Our tree has lots of different Angel ornaments because I love
Angels. Some stay out all year long.

And here we have my Santa wall hanging. I have mad several as gifts and finally made one for myself. I made mine softer colors with more rose red, instead of bright Christmas red, it goes well in my house.

More items next time.

Oh my aching back!

I don't have much to tell you . Like most folks, I have been busy getting Christmas gifts finished up, and in the mean time planning my Thanksgiving dinner which will be at my house this year. This year it will be just my brother & his wife.

However, all this running around, cleaning, & sitting at my sewing machine for hours, has taken a toll. I got up out of bed this morning, like every morning, but my back went out, my knees buckled & I was on the floor. Lord help me, not now there is just too much to do.
Gregg decided to stay home today, (after getting me off the floor) he thought it would be a good idea not to leave me alone. I have to agree.
So while I sit here icing my back, I wish everyone a good day.

Thought I would share a few photos of our day at the aquarium while on vacation in Hawaii. It was such an amazing place. I have never seen such beautiful fish. I am inspired to make a sea quilt with bright colored fish.

Well, I wanted to post about the quilt class I took before I left for vacation, however I just didn't have the time. Getting prepared is so much work, making lists, rechecking, making sure you have remembered everything. Yes, I did remember the sunscreen!

I took a two day class to learn how to do embroidery, something I have wanted to learn for sometime. I was so excited when my local quilt shop offered this class. I loved the pattern when I fist saw it by Crabapple Hill.
I must say I don't know why I was afraid of embroidery, it was easy to learn. Now we only use two stitched for this pattern, but later I'm sure i can learn other fancy stitches in another pattern.

I wanted to use black & creams & whites like the pattern, because I have been collecting black & white fabrics for awhile. I have three blocks made, more to go along with lots of flying geese. Some ladies are using fall colors of oranges, golds, browns, and others are using reds & greens with green embroidery thread, for a Christmas look, & they were so pretty. I might just make another one using different colors too.

Here is some of the stitching up close, I just love the trees & houses. The center panel says, "Over the river & through the woods to Grandmother's house we go." I have that panel finished. I enjoyed doing the needle work so much I couldn't stop & got it done before we left for our trip. The only hard part was trying to keep my kitty off my lap so I could sew.

Now I'm sure you are wondering where we went on our vacation that we would need sunscreen, well we went to Hawaii. I'll post pictures in another post.

Sew Day

Wanted to share with you it was "Sew Day" with the girls on Friday. That is me in the front, Dianne next & Penny. Funny how we ended up standing my height.

Penny comes to my house twice a week & we sew together, well this day, Dianne wanted to learn how to make a handbag, so she came for the fun.
I know it's a tight squeeze in my sewing room but everyone had a sewing station & ironing station. It all worked out just fine.

My new project

When I received this issue of McCall's quilting Magazine in the mail & saw this quilt on the cover designed by Lissa Alexander, I was in love. I knew I just had to make this quilt for our bed. The colors are so romantic, & would go in out bedroom perfectly.

Isn't is so beautiful? The photo doesn't show the soft pinks & blues very well, I am not much of a photographer, but I am sure you get the idea. Dont' worry, I'll be posting photos of my quilt when I get it finished. Or should I say, I will have Gregg take a photo for me to do it justice. Just need to finish up a few swap projects I signed up for, then I can start my beauty.

Now I told myself I could probably find similar fabrics in my stash & not have to buy any. Well when my Hubby & I took a trip down to see my Mother, He took me into this wonderful quilt shop in Clovis CA, called Quilter's Paradise. I have shopped online from them, but have never made it to their store. Well, I must say it truly was Paradise. Wonderful staff, walls of fabric, lots of patterns. I was in heaven.
My darling husband snapped this photo as we were leaving, bad hair day I know because it was SO HOT that day! Only thing a girl could do was to put a head band on.

Look what I found while in the store! Yep, its the fabrics used in the Enduring Elegance quilt, all in one wonderful tower. Well, it came home with me & I have everything ready to start my new project. I know what you are thinking, what happened to using your stash? Well, I will pull extra fabrics from my stash because I'm going to make it a little bigger to fit our bed. There, saved. hehehe
I found more treasures on that day, but will save those to share with you on another day.

I'm working on my blocks for the signature block swap. I just love Jo Morton fabrics. This is going to be such a pretty quilt & special when I receive blocks from all over the country. I'm so excited.

My pink projects

Thought I would share with you what I have been working on. I made this sweet little bag for myself. I just love pink & roses so what a perfect combination. I found the pattern at Shabby Fabrics.com. Christmas is coming so what a great gift. This first one is for me though.

Here is a picture of the inside, it has a drawstring pouch perhaps for jewelry or some other treasure.

I added pockets to the inside of the pouch to hold items. It is such a cute pattern if I say so.

Then here is a little pink bowel I made for my sewing table. I like to put thread of nickknacks in it. This was a striped fabric when it started. I love how the stripes make a swirl design. I added a butterfly button with sparkles just to add a cute touch. Another great Christmas gift don't you think?

My sewing buddy

Thought I would show you a photo of my sewing buddy Warwick. Isn't that the sweetest face? She loves to spend her days with me in her basket. See her kitty quilt I made for her? I think she like the purr of the sewing machine, or my voice as I sing along with my cd's. ha ha . Or maybe she just likes my company.

When she gets up out of her basket, this is where she loves to sit. It always makes me laugh. She likes to watch the humming birds that feed out my window. In the winter i bet she likes the warmth of the sewing machine.

In one of my other posts I showed you my dresden plate wall hanging I've been working on, well I've been busy doing the quilting. I'm almost finished & will be ready to put the binding on. I just loved the fabric when I saw it at the quit show, until I saw KarenDianne's dresden plate she is making on her blog Living Life at Leehaven. Her blades are such rich reds & browns, so yummy.

Ok my blogging friends, I need help. I can't figure out how to add things to my sidebar. When I go to Layout section to edit, I don't even see where the sidebar is to add things to. I know I am showing how new I am to computer stuff, but I can learn I just need some help.

It's coming along

I went to our local quilt show with my friend Penny, & found this great kit. I loved the colors and the pattern.

I have the dresden plate finished along with the pieced background, now need to sew the plate down, then add two borders.

In between working on my little quilt, I and doing my first round robin from The Quilt & Needle form I am a member of. I added the second border to Jenn's medallion.
I have to say doing a round robin is so much fun. It really challenges you to step outside of your comfort zone.
So I've been busy, busy, busy, which is a good thing.

Sorry I have been MIA (missing in action) & haven't posted for awhile, but my back went out & I just haven't felt up to doing much.
My buddy Gerda from Block Central's forum said the funniest thing,
"How rude of your back to go out & not take you along!" I got such a laugh out of that, couldn't laugh too hard though or it hurt.
I am happy to say I am on the mend, & will be able to get back to my sewing machine soon. I know she has missed me.

It's Easter Sunday, He has Risen!

I have such fond memories of shopping with my Mother for a new Easter outfit. How I remember those gloves, Bobbie socks, & new little hand bag. After seeing Eileens' photos of past Easters, I was inspired to look through my photo album.

It's finished

I have been busy making diaper bags for my friend Deni's daughters. This is the first one I made for Trisha. Just loved the cute black & red, & white fabric. Her sister Deanna liked it so well she asked me to make one for her. She chose the fabrics she wanted . It's hard to see but the top panel has little monkeys. Hope she likes it. This is a great pattern I found, it has lots of pockets on the outside & inside.

While making these I found this pretty Asian fabric & decided to make myself a new purse. A girl can never have enough bags. I think the ladies are so beautiful. I guess it is more of a winter bag, but that's ok, I can wait.

Well, my sewing buddy Penny couldn't make it to my house for sew day to finish quilting our table toppers. So I decided to make myself some pot holders. She found these cute patterns on line. I have to say they were a little challenging because some had set in seams.

I think they turned out cute. As you can see in the photo, I did had Warwick, my other sewing buddy. She has a basket next to me on my sewing table.

First I would like to say thank you Dawn for your kind words. You are such a sweety pie.

Thought I would share some photos of out trip to the Redding gun & antique show.
This is Gregg in front of his display table reading a letter a soldier wrote to his mom during WWII. (the letter is to the soldier's mom, not Gregg's mom) lol

This is his display table from his first showing in Placerville. I think it looks very nice.

While at the show I found this treasure. It's a lovey postage stamp quilt that I just fell in love with. On top of that it was a steal, the lady gave me such a good price. Needs a little TLC, but I can take care of that.
Isn't it pretty? It is hand pieced & hand quilted.

I just love touching it. Someone put a lot of work & love into this quilt, now I will love it.

March 20th,

I spent a lovely day in my sewing room. I've been working on a little table topper with my friend Penny. She made hers in blues & mine is rose. I think I'm going to call it "Follow the Garden Path"

Here is a photo of one of the half sq. triangles. They are 1&1/2 in. unfinished. My were they small to work with. I think it turned out cute. It's layered & ready to quilt.

Better go start dinner.
